Post EFT/Tapping
Has anyone had any experience with EFT: Emotional Freedom Technique or Tapping? Have read a little bit about it on some other sites and am intrigued. Any advice or opinions? Similarly, Tapas Accupressure Technique?

I learned EFT in acupuncture school, and I have found that it is good for simple allergies and for anxiety. For more complex issues, you need a really good practitioner, and it may not work as well. There are a lot of people doing EFT who are not very good at it, similar to Reiki. But when it works, it does work.

Thanks nittygritty. Thought it sounded good for early onset anxiety or even what I call "mind-muddle". I might try to read up on it. Do you think it is something a lay person couldn't learn for their own use? :?:

Yes, it is very easy to learn, and there is a very informative website from the founder of the system - his name escapes me at the moment with videos, etc.

I hope it works for you. I tried it but it didn't work. Maybe I had a not-so-good practitioner.

I also tried a technique where I wore headphones that alternated sound. Then I tried a technique that had me look to the right and then to the left.

Nada.

Maybe it's me.

I'm going to try it again. I went to the site and downloaded the ebook.

I'll let you know if there is an improvement.

Post Re: EFT/Tapping
I read the e-manual a couple of times over the last few days, and then lo and behold, last night found myself sailing full wind into an anxiety attack over a couple of changes that are happening in my life. I really thought I was handling it all very well and then it just crept up on me. I was a nano-second away from grabbing a xanex desperate to stop the storm but decided instead to grab pen and paper, sort out my affirmation and have a go at Tapping. I must admit, after doing it a couple of times I felt my anxiety level drop to almost negligible; so much so that I was able to go to sleep. Wonderful!! But damn it if I wasn't awake at 4.00am, sweating and feeling panicky and trapped again. I guess I shoud've got up there and then and tried another session but instead, I just tried to ride it through...by 6.00am I was miserable but had no time to care for myself as the house was waking up, there was breakfast to do etc etc. And you know, I feel so embarassed that I get like this...try to hide it from everyone until they are all gone for the day and then I can let go and cry, or pace, or try the Tapping again! Once the house was quiet I tried another session of Tapping and once again, felt some relief but then, most times my anxiety seems to ease off naturally during the day...only really manifests in full angry storm in the evenings and very early mornings. Why do you think that is?

Post Re: EFT/Tapping
I have found over the years that my anxiety was at its worst first thing in the morning. And I know that the truth behind this is that it was
fear under another guise. That is connected to something that happened years ago. It is part of who I am and through therapy I know that
I will be able to make it less and live with it more easily, and that it will never "go away".

Its impossible for me to say what caused your anxiety, I guess only you have the answer to that. All I can say is that finding a way to be
really kind to yourself and do everything you can to make yourself comfortable and feel safe, is the way forward. To show yourself love is
so important.

warm wishes..

Post Re: EFT/Tapping
Happened again this a.m; not so bad this time. :( Something is definately going on as I haven't had this happen in a very long time.
I think I need to be more specific in my affirmations when Tapping... I have given myself the afternoon to re-read some stuff and spend a bit of quality time shuffling around inside me! I sometimes feel like a little pig (a cute one of course!) grubbing around in the straw looking for something good to eat that I may have missed previously!!!
Am thinking about going back for another session in hypnotherapy to try to pinpoint some precursors...I found my last session really good.
