At the HSP Gathering in CO!
Hello from Estes Park in Colorado. Tina and I are here among a wonderful group of HSPs and have been getting VERY positive feedback about the first edition of Tribe magazine!
Dr. Ted Zeff has been talking this afternoon (we are on a short break right now) about the issues that sensitive males must face in our North American society. It has been a fascinating discussion, with women as interested in it as the men. We want to know how to be better mothers to HSBs and HSMs (highly sensitive men and boys).
What are your thoughts on highly sensitive men in our society and how they are treated?
Gotta get back to the discussion. Talk to you later!

Re: At the HSP Gathering in CO!
I think at initial meeting a lot of senstive males are labeled gay (homosexual) when in actuallity they are just sensetive...
I have a gentleman that i work with that everyone thinks is gay and I think he is just a walking emotional factory. When he feels he feels highly elevated ....like his emotions lay right on the surface....
He is slightly efiiminate in some ways but that is his sensitivity showing.
Rather have a sensetive male who can empathize and cry with me as one that is so unrelenting he becomes a tree stump....

Re: At the HSP Gathering in CO!
The new generation of young males, HSP and Non HSP, seem to have been afforded a better opportunity to express their authentic self. Of course, they weren't born in the 40's and 50's to compare the expectations, so they might not agree. Still, I think HSM&B's have it better now. It will be better still, when the trait of HS is well known and an accepted part of the 'normal range', if I dare say that phrase. I have met many men who were just so confused and in turmoil about who they were. What a waste. Even some women who yearned for a special man like an HSP man could be, were raised to shun them as mates due to their conditiong and fear of ridicule. Bring it on HSM! The world is ready for you.

I share my life with a highly sensitive man. He doesn't like to be called that, but he is. He is very comfortable with his masculinity and emotional side. It doesn't seem to have hindered him in any way, socially or in his work environment. He is in tuned to the arts, music, dance, sculputure etc. He is soft spoken, quiet and thoughtful. A very warm, caring and admirable man. He has never spoken of being treated disrespectfully because of his sensitivities and I have never observed it either.

Thanks to Tina & Lee for getting me updated. We have had a wonderful night of creativity sharing at our gathering. We also visited the Rocky Mountain National Park to experience the elk bugling - it felt primal. The community here has been wonderful.

Re: At the HSP Gathering in CO!
It sucked growing up as an HSM. There were times where I was pushed around because I don't like fighting and I cry easily. Sometimes I'll start tearing up when I'm telling someone how I care about them. My own brother and father couldn't handle my emotions. It has taken me 20 long years to finally come to grips with it. If someone had told me that it was okay to be a HSM when I was a kid I would have been a lot more confident. I try to pass that on to the HSMs I come across today.

Learning about ourselves, and respecting how we are changes everything doesn't it? It would have been a totally different life growing up to have understoon then ... MrSteven - Helping others with all of this is a wonderful gift we can give to them isn't it?
