Lee Karalis–Editor
I’m a Californian, of Choctaw heritage, an adopted Greek. I love the highlands of Scotland, the bay of Pylos in the Peloponnese, the loving spirits of the American Southwest. I’ve read Proust (no, really, I have) and Socrates, Heinlein and Solzhenitsyn, Rumi and Deloria, Jr.
I walked the Acropolis before its closure and renovation. I studied the Pieta before a crazed man took a hammer to it. I climbed the Eiffel Tower and the trees on my grandfather’s ranch in Tishomingo.
I became a political idealist in the 60s, a feminist in the 70s, a mother in the 80s, a teacher in the 90s, and found my bliss in the new millennium.
I love words–writing and reading them. As a writer, I paint with them. As an editor, I ensure the reader’s unobstructed view of the painting. That means I need to be empathetic to both writer and reader while staying out of the way of each. The challenges are endless, but the rewards are enormous.
